Maintenance Tips

We would like to share some helpful tips we've found to help you maintain the plumbing in your condo unit. Keeping your plumbing in good shape is crucial to preventing leaks and other issues that can impact not only your living space but also your neighbors'.

1. Purchase an alkaline drain cleaner, such as Thrift, and use it with hot water at the first sign of a slow drain.

2. Keep a snake handy to maintain your drains and prevent backups, but be cautious to avoid getting it stuck.

3. Install drain traps in kitchen and shower drains to prevent food waste and debris from causing clogs.

4. Avoid using the garbage disposal; disconnect power and clean it by hand instead.

5. Place a pan under your washer to catch water in case of a backup.

6. Before traveling for an extended period, turn off power and water to your unit to prevent damage. Locate shutoff valves near appliances like toilets, sinks, or in the HVAC closet.

If you detect a leak, contact a plumber promptly. If the leak may have affected neighboring units, notify the management company immediately. Our emergency maintenance line is 703.705.7693.
